Tanzania MOC

Tanzania produces washed Arabica from the volcanic northern and southern highlands — particularly the slopes of Kilimanjaro and Meru and the Mbeya-Mbinga zone — alongside commercial Robusta from the Lake Victoria basin. The country is internationally known for the Kilimanjaro Peaberry premium lot and for a bright, wine-like cup profile positioned between Kenyan and Ethiopian in character. The Kilimanjaro Native Cooperative Union (KNCU), founded 1933, is one of Africa's oldest farmer cooperatives. The Cup of Excellence programme, active since 2020, has elevated recognition of Tanzania's highest-quality producing regions. This MOC organises knowledge about Tanzanian coffee geography, regional character, the peaberry tradition, and the cooperative and institutional structures that govern the sector.
