Coffee Variety Families MOC

Coffee varieties can be organised into distinct genetic lineages based on their origins and breeding history. The two foundational lineages — Typica and Bourbon — form the basis of most commercial Arabica cultivation, while Ethiopian landraces represent the ancestral genetic diversity of the species. The Timor Hybrid, a naturally occurring Arabica × Robusta cross, introduced disease-resistance genes that underpin most modern breeding programmes. This MOC sits under Coffee Botany and Varietals MOC.
