Overview

Guatemala is one of Central America's most important specialty coffee origins, with diverse growing regions — including Huehuetenango, Antigua, Atitlán, and Acatenango — each producing distinctive flavour profiles shaped by altitude, microclimate, and volcanic soil. The country's emphasis on altitude-grown Strictly Hard Bean (SHB) coffees, which develop greater density and flavour complexity through slow growth at high elevation, has made Guatemalan coffee a consistent and respected source for specialty buyers globally.
