Overview¶
Colombia has undergone a significant quality revolution in specialty coffee, transitioning from bulk commodity production — long sold under the Juan Valdez marketing identity — to micro-lot, single-origin, and experimentally processed coffees that consistently score above 85 points on the SCA scale. Regions such as Nariño, Huila, Antioquia, and Cauca now produce internationally celebrated lots, with producers increasingly engaging in direct trade and experimental processing to differentiate their offerings in the global specialty market.
