World Brewers Cup MOC¶
The World Brewers Cup (WBrC) is an SCA-sanctioned international competition for manual filter coffee brewing, founded in 2011 to elevate the craft of pour-over and other non-espresso preparation methods alongside the World Barista Championship programme. Competitors brew two rounds — a compulsory service round using a standardised coffee and an open service round using a coffee and recipe of their choice — judged by a panel of sensory judges on taste, balance, and presentation. The WBrC has played a significant role in advancing filter brewing technique and knowledge, with champion methods such as Tetsu Kasuya's 4:6 method (2016) becoming widely adopted in home and café brewing contexts. This MOC covers the championship's history, notable champions, and the competition standards and brewing knowledge it has promoted.
