Overview¶
The R Grader Programme is the Coffee Quality Institute's (CQI) certification for evaluating Coffea canephora (Robusta) quality. It uses a separate cupping form and scoring methodology specifically calibrated for Robusta's different flavour attributes, bitterness profile, and grading standards. The programme recognises that Robusta quality assessment requires distinct criteria from Q Arabica grading, reflecting the species' unique sensory characteristics and growing conditions. R Grader certification enables coffee professionals to assess and communicate Robusta quality with rigour and consistency.
