Overview

Thailand is both a coffee-producing and coffee-consuming nation, with growing specialty scenes in Bangkok and Chiang Mai and a producing sector in the northern highlands — particularly Chiang Rai province — that is generating increasingly quality-focused Arabica. The country's position as a hub for regional tourism and its large young urban population have accelerated specialty café development, while northern hill-tribe farming communities have received investment in quality-improvement processing infrastructure.
