Overview¶
Specialty coffee globalisation describes the spread of third-wave specialty coffee culture from its US and Nordic origins to markets worldwide from the 2000s through the 2020s, driven by WBC competition visibility, social media, Australian barista migration to London and North America, and the global expansion of specialty roasters. By the 2020s, meaningful specialty café scenes existed in most major cities on every continent, with notable hubs in Melbourne, London, Tokyo, Seoul, and Melbourne leading distinct regional interpretations of specialty culture.
