Overview¶
Siemens is a German multinational engineering conglomerate. In the domestic coffee appliance context, the Siemens brand refers to consumer kitchen appliances produced by BSH Home Appliances GmbH (Bosch Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH) — the same company that produces Bosch appliances. BSH was a joint venture between Robert Bosch GmbH and Siemens AG until 2015, when Bosch acquired Siemens's stake outright; Siemens continues to licence its name to BSH for consumer appliance products. Siemens coffee machines are positioned in the upper-mass-market to premium consumer segment, slightly above Bosch in product positioning.
Company Background¶
- BSH Home Appliances GmbH: Produces both Bosch and Siemens branded appliances; owned by Robert Bosch GmbH (100% since 2015)
- Siemens AG licences its brand to BSH; the Siemens consumer appliance brand is no longer directly operated by Siemens AG
- Relationship to Bosch: Both brands share the same manufacturing, technology platforms, and many product designs — Siemens models are typically positioned slightly above Bosch equivalents in design and features
- Headquarters: Munich, Germany (BSH)
Coffee Machine Range¶
Siemens produces automatic espresso machines under the EQ series:
| Product Line | Segment | Key Features |
|---|---|---|
| EQ.300 | Entry automatic | Basic one-touch; compact; entry bean-to-cup |
| EQ.500 | Mid automatic | LatteGo-style milk system; larger drink menu |
| EQ.700 | Premium automatic | Home Connect app control; personalised profiles; auto milk |
| EQ.900 | Ultra-premium | Top-of-range; Premium Grinder; full touchscreen; ultra-quiet |
| iQ700 Filter | Premium filter | Automated filter coffee; SilentBrew technology |
The EQ.900 is Siemens's flagship automatic espresso machine — featuring the Premium Grinder (capable of detecting bean freshness and adjusting settings), a full-colour touchscreen, ultra-quiet grinding, and automatic milk system. It is one of the most technically advanced mass-market automatic machines available.
Home Connect — Siemens's smart home connectivity platform; allows machine control, diagnostics, and recipe customisation via smartphone app on EQ.700 and EQ.900.
Siemens vs. Bosch¶
Since both Siemens and Bosch appliances are manufactured by BSH: - Siemens is positioned as the premium brand (design-forward, feature-rich, higher price) - Bosch is positioned as the practical/reliable brand (fewer design features, lower price) - In coffee machines specifically, the Siemens EQ series is positioned above the Bosch VeroCafe series
Market Position¶
Siemens EQ automatic machines compete with Jura, De'Longhi PrimaDonna, Miele, and Philips Saeco EP series in the premium automatic segment. The EQ.900 is positioned at the top of the mass-market automatic category.

- Siemens domestic appliances (including coffee machines) are produced by BSH Home Appliances, which also produces Bosch appliances
