Irish Coffee

A warming classic from Ireland — whiskey, hot coffee, brown sugar, and a floating layer of rich cream.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz hot, strong brewed coffee
  • 1½ oz Irish whiskey (Jameson recommended)
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 oz heavy cream, lightly whipped

Instructions

  1. Preheat a glass goblet or mug by filling it with hot water, then emptying.
  2. Add brown sugar to the warmed glass.
  3. Pour hot coffee over the sugar and stir until dissolved.
  4. Add Irish whiskey and stir gently.
  5. Lightly whip the cream until thickened but still pourable.
  6. Slowly pour the cream over the back of a spoon so it floats on top.

Tips

  • Drink through the cream layer — don't stir it in.
  • Use freshly brewed, strong coffee for the best flavor.
