Irish Coffee¶
A warming classic from Ireland — whiskey, hot coffee, brown sugar, and a floating layer of rich cream.
Ingredients¶
- 4 oz hot, strong brewed coffee
- 1½ oz Irish whiskey (Jameson recommended)
- 2 tsp brown sugar
- 1 oz heavy cream, lightly whipped
Instructions¶
- Preheat a glass goblet or mug by filling it with hot water, then emptying.
- Add brown sugar to the warmed glass.
- Pour hot coffee over the sugar and stir until dissolved.
- Add Irish whiskey and stir gently.
- Lightly whip the cream until thickened but still pourable.
- Slowly pour the cream over the back of a spoon so it floats on top.
Tips¶
- Drink through the cream layer — don't stir it in.
- Use freshly brewed, strong coffee for the best flavor.
