Overview¶
Regenerative agriculture in coffee refers to farming practices that go beyond sustainability to actively improve soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem function over time. Core techniques include shade-grown agroforestry, composting, minimal tillage, water retention landscape design, and the integration of coffee with food crops and native tree species. Some specialty roasters are sourcing from and financially supporting producers who practise verified regenerative methods, treating soil restoration and carbon sequestration as measurable quality and sourcing criteria alongside cup score.
