Overview¶
Burundi produces high-quality washed Arabica coffees, grown at altitudes above 1,500 metres, that have attracted increasing interest from specialty buyers for their clean, complex cup profiles reminiscent of neighbouring Rwanda and East African washed coffees. The country's Cup of Excellence programme has been instrumental in identifying outstanding lots from smallholder producers and connecting them to international specialty markets willing to pay significant premiums for exceptional quality.
